Week 2, Understanding by design

In beginning of this semester, I didn't know what " Backward Design" means, but after I watched the two videos, I grasped a solid understanding of it. "Backward Design" refers to the academic goals that needs to be set before planning the actual activities, instructional methods and assessments. And teachers are the one who responsible to design their specific goals, determine if their students achieved them or not and what suppose to be done structurally to support their goals.
