EDPC 603, Week 2-1, My philosophy of Education

My philosophy is teachers must have a lot of passion to become a teacher and be very patient with the students. I found big similarities between a teacher and a gardener takes care of her garden. A garden starts from tiny seeds that grow and nourish into many beautiful colorful flowers. The flowers are the products of all the hard work, time and effort the gardener had put in her garden.  The colorful flowers give her pride and satisfaction of her labor and accomplishment. A teacher finds joy in watching her students grow and achieve greatness just like those tiny seeds. A teacher takes pride in her students when they grow and become successful. The teacher spreads her knowledge to the students and encourages them to be and try their best the way a gardener spreads those tiny seeds.
Teachers need to understand the huge role they play in the life of a person. Some teachers are fully dedicated to their jobs and their prime goal is to help their students. On the other hand, there are teachers who do not understand the glory of being in a respectable profession like teaching, nor do they understand the satisfaction and appreciation teachers get from their students by helping them. I have good experiences from very helpful teachers who I admire a lot, and a really bad experience with a teacher who tried to destroy my love of learning when I was in elementary. Also,  I always thought about school as a place where people gain an education, and then they decide what they want to do with their future. School, to me, was also a place where I could socialize with my friends, have fun with them and learn new skill every day. However, I see a lot of students nowadays who thinks of  a school as a boring place where they
I see a big difference from the education style that teachers used to follow back then and now. A lot of teachers nowadays are rushed to finish their lessons at right time, not be behind and move to the next lesson; without checking if her/ his students understood before moving on to the next step.
I remember when I was in High School, I inspired to take biology class because it was much easier for me to learn due to the connection with our human bodies and nature. I used to love the comparison between the human cell, the animal cell and the plant cell. Also, the teacher was really great and used to explain everything step by step; there was no rushing to finish the material that we were assigned.  However, we didn’t have the supplies in our school to use to help us understand the material better. The teacher used to draw the body systems on the board and label the parts of the body such as the breathing system. It enabled us as students to build at least an idea of what he was teaching.  Definitely using technology in classroom today is very useful, but I always think about back days how interested we were as a students to learn without having all the supplies that we do now in most of the classroom. It makes me assure that what makes students lovable of learning is the teacher's attitude towards learning.
I believe whether or not the student would love a subject is totally dependent on the teacher’s style of teaching.
