EDPC 605, Week 10, Assignment 3, Teaching Philosophy

Using technology  is very important to gain student understanding and gain student interaction. I like to incorporated technology in my lesson plans by using the smart board to make my lesson interactive. When I  student-taught in elementary, I used to use the smart board, I had the student come up and solve division word problems. This could have been done on chart paper or on a dry eraser board but the idea of comping up and using the smart board excited the students . I have used the smart board many times and I have observed my cooperating teacher utilize the mart board in many lessons such as math, social studies, and writing. The students were able to play math games on the smart board. They watched videos about the Oregon Trail for their social studies unit. For writing we modeled our drafts on the smart board and the students came up to the smart board and pointed out what needs to be corrected on our draft. I feel this helped them learn the material because they were actively engaged and all wanted to participate. Instead of just hearing and seeing the lesson, they were able to come up and interact with technology to solve problems. As a future educator in today’s technological world, I know how important it is for students to use technology on a regular basis. The challenge is to use technology effectively to enhance learning. Incorporating technology into daily lessons and activities is a practical way to teach students that technology can be used in many different ways. By suing tools of technology in lessons and projects that engage students, I can increase classroom participation while students develop better critical-thinking and comprehension skills.
